Terms of service
DRAFT — REQUIRES LEGAL REVIEW BEFORE LAUNCH. This text has not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and is not legal advice.
By bidding on or using The One Button you agree to these terms. If you bid on behalf of a company you confirm you are authorised to do so.
The service
The One Button sells temporary control of a single advertising button. Control lasts until another party pays a qualifying higher amount or the daily round ends at midnight ET, whichever comes first. No minimum duration of ownership is guaranteed.
Payments
All amounts are in USD and charged at checkout. Refunds are issued only in the cases listed in the Rules. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; we do not store card details. When a refund is issued we request it from Stripe immediately, but how long it takes to appear on your statement is decided by Stripe and your card issuer or bank.
Your content
You are responsible for your company name, message, logo and destination URL, and you grant us a licence to display them while you own the button and to record them permanently in the public Hall of Fame. You warrant that you hold the rights to the logo you upload.
Moderation and termination
We may remove any owner that violates the Content Policy or applicable law, without refund, and may refuse service to anyone.
What removal actually does: the entry is suspended, its outbound link stops working immediately and the button stops displaying it. Control passes automatically to the most recent previous owner of that same day who is still eligible and not suspended; if there is no such owner, the button returns to the neutral unclaimed state at the $1.00 opening price. The removed entry stays in the record with a suspended status, and the action is written to the moderation audit log. A suspended entry can be un-suspended by a moderator, but that alone does not return control of the button to it — reinstating control is a separate, explicit moderator action.
Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the bid in question. Outbound destinations are third-party sites we do not control.
Changes
We may update these terms; the version shown on this page at the time of your bid applies to that bid.
